An artist and a carpenter,
A marquee and a barn,
The third Torr daughter
To wed on the family farm!
Visitors from far-off lands,
(and a hoard of locals too!)
All gathered in their finest fare
to witness the big "I do!"
Champagne and celebrations
and awesome weather to boot,
speeches, cake and dancing,
this wedding was a hoot!

Weddings are FUN.
They are also a s***load of hard work if you put them together yourself! Hats off to my mom for the 3rd Torr girl's wedding being a huge success this past weekend - the woman has done it again! There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into a home wedding - Sweat, blood and tears are plenty, not to mention a few choice words here and there, but the end result is always magnificent, and Diane hopefully had the best day of her life!
Luckily this year the wedding cake did not end up on the floor, and the freezing, misty midlands weather stayed away... everything was, in fact, delightfully perfect. Even the Capetonians made an impressive effort and left the shadow of Table Mountain to experience, first hand, a warm Natal midlands celebration.
Diane's hubby Ilya is German, so there were some lovely little nuances incorporated into the ceremony, such as the family choir who sang to the couple in German to wish them well on their new adventure as a married couple! It was so special xx
Not to mention the part of the groom's speech that went like this (and I quote):
"You look unreasonably beautiful, seriously. Adjectives are inadequate, I don't know what to say...scrap what I wrote...*laughs*"
Anyhoo...I won't bore you any further with more comments and anecdotes, but rather will leave you with a few parting shots. Here's hoping we won't have to wait too long for the final Torr wedding... *wink wink*
xxxxx
Thanks leigh, it was indeed the best day! I'm so very lucky that the whole family worked so hard to pull everything off so beautifully. Dont know how to even begin thanking everyone.
